Welcome to the first issue of The Cope Report — a weekly digest from the CopeCheck network, where AI scores the cope so you don't have to.

Every claim that "AI will create more jobs than it destroys" gets run through our Oracle of Obsolescence. Every politician promising retraining gets a cope score. Every country pretending this isn't happening gets a screwed rating.

Here is what the data says this week.

THE NUMBERS

2026 US layoffs so far: 127,411 across 283 events. That is 1,003 jobs lost per day, up from 674 per day in 2025. AI-attributed cuts: 61,700 and accelerating.

Biggest cuts this year: Oracle (30,000), Amazon (16,000), Microsoft (8,750), Meta (8,000), Morgan Stanley (2,500).

Since 2020, the total stands at 900,000.

THIS WEEK'S COPE

Cloudflare announced it is cutting about 20% of its workforce as AI adoption reshapes operations. The Oracle's verdict: a data point masquerading as business news. The headline treats this as a company-specific restructuring story. The Discontinuity Thesis sees it as another empirical notch on the collapse timeline.

Meanwhile, CBS News reported that AI emerged as a top cause of layoffs, accounting for 26% of April's job cuts. The cope industrial complex will frame this as a temporary adjustment. The data says otherwise.

Anthropic's new finance agents are fuelling job panic in banking. Junior analyst work is being automated. Coinbase cut 14% citing AI. The institutional response so far: pretend this is about efficiency, not replacement.

EU SCREWED RANKINGS (UPDATED)

We just rescored all 27 EU countries with live Eurostat data, factoring in brain drain. Peripheral countries like Greece, Spain, and Romania do not just have high youth unemployment. They export the problem. Young people leave, the official numbers look better, and the structural vulnerability gets worse.

Most screwed: Greece (95), Cyprus (93), Bulgaria (92), Spain (91), Romania (91).

Least screwed: Finland (54), Estonia (56), Denmark (58), Luxembourg (58), Sweden (61).

The Nordics invest in adaptation. The periphery copes. The gap is widening.
